I saw this Pasolini film a few weeks ago, and had been heard about it for the last 20 years or so. At the time of this movie's making, and even now, it certainly would have been considered a pornographic production, disturbing, etc. However, beyond the explicit content of the video, the film is generally poorly made, as a piece of cinema history.

This is a distinction it shares with the film it's often mentioned with, that being Caligula, which did have a big budget, and some good performances. But that didn't mask a lame excuse to make fetish and bad porn accessible, under the guise of pseudo-art for middle America. I wouldn't recommend either dvd release, unless you were hopelessly naive about sex, politics, fascism, and atrocity, ... hmmm. That probably covers a lot of film-goers after all.
